Stop the leak before it overheats.
The water pump pushes coolant through your engine, radiator and heater. When it fails, the engine can overheat within minutes. The heater may also go cold.
Signs your water pump is failing
Look for coolant drips near the front of the engine, a crusty trail of dried coolant on the pump, a whining or grinding noise, a temperature gauge that runs high, or heat that comes and goes. Many pumps leak slowly from a weep hole for weeks before they fail outright, so catching that early saves an engine.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a water pump last?
Many last 60,000 to 100,000 miles or more. When the pump sits behind the timing belt or chain, we usually replace it during that job so it is not left as a weak point.
Can I drive with a leaking water pump?
A small seep may not stop you today, but it will get worse. Once coolant runs low, the engine can overheat quickly. Have it checked soon and keep an eye on the temperature gauge.
Why does my hybrid have more than one water pump?
Many hybrids use electric pumps for the engine, the inverter or both. Each cools a different system, and each can fail separately. We test them all with a scan tool.

This is my first time going to A+ Japanese Auto Repair and I plan to return for other car repair/maintenance services. I appreciate the total transparency and honesty. The complementary ride to and from the shop is extremely helpful. As a bonus they have loyal rewards program and all work is backed by a warranty which they explain what it is. The staff is friendly and answer questions that you have.

Took my 19 year old Tacoma to A+ Japanese Auto based on the reviews. I knew it needed a 150K service, and they suggested an inspection along with an oil change so they could determine what services were needed. The front office staff was exceptional from the time I made my appointment, arrived to the shop, and discussed the recommended repairs. The technicians took detailed photos shown me by my service provider. She explained all of the details regarding the repairs necessay and helped categorize the repairs based on safety. I was very impressed with this level of service, and highly recommend this business.
