Keep your engine from overheating.

Overheating is one of the fastest ways to destroy an engine. A warped cylinder head can turn a simple hose repair into a major engine job. Most overheating starts with a small leak or old coolant that someone could have caught early.

Toyota, Honda, Subaru and Nissan each specify their own long-life coolant. Mixing the wrong type can form sludge and eat away at the water pump and radiator. We use the coolant your manufacturer calls for and flush the system on schedule.

We pressure test the system to find leaks, then repair or replace radiators, hoses, thermostats, radiator caps, cooling fans and water pumps. A cooling system service is also the first step when your heater blows cold.

Frequently asked questions

  • How often should I flush my coolant?

Many vehicles with long-life coolant go about 75,000 miles before the first change. Older vehicles may need it sooner. We will check your manufacturer's schedule.

  • Can I just add water to my radiator?

In an emergency, water will get you to a shop. But water alone does not protect against corrosion or boiling. Have the system checked and refilled with the correct coolant soon after.

  • What should I do if my car overheats?

Turn off the AC and turn the heater on high to pull heat from the engine. If the gauge keeps climbing, pull over, shut off the engine and do not open the radiator cap while it is hot. Call for a tow rather than driving further.

A+ has been my auto repair shop for the last 5 years. They have an outstanding crew that are always very professional and thorough in assessing the car, identifying issues, and fixing them right the first time. If you have japanese car this is the #1 shop.

This is my first time going to A+ Japanese Auto Repair and I plan to return for other car repair/maintenance services. I appreciate the total transparency and honesty. The complementary ride to and from the shop is extremely helpful. As a bonus they have loyal rewards program and all work is backed by a warranty which they explain what it is. The staff is friendly and answer questions that you have.

Took my 19 year old Tacoma to A+ Japanese Auto based on the reviews. I knew it needed a 150K service, and they suggested an inspection along with an oil change so they could determine what services were needed. The front office staff was exceptional from the time I made my appointment, arrived to the shop, and discussed the recommended repairs. The technicians took detailed photos shown me by my service provider. She explained all of the details regarding the repairs necessay and helped categorize the repairs based on safety. I was very impressed with this level of service, and highly recommend this business.
