Does the type of oil really matter?
Yes. Many newer engines are designed for thin oils like 0W-16 or 0W-20, and using the wrong grade can hurt fuel economy, engine protection and even your warranty coverage. We always match the oil to your manufacturer’s specifications.
How often should I change my oil?
Most modern cars using synthetic oil need a change every 5,000 miles. Short trips, heavy traffic and towing call for more frequent changes. We’ll follow your owner’s manual and your car’s maintenance reminder.
What’s the difference between synthetic and conventional oil?
Synthetic oil is engineered to resist breakdown, flow better in cold weather and protect your engine at high temperatures, so it lasts longer between changes. Most newer cars require full synthetic oil. Conventional oil costs less but needs changing more often, and is only right for engines that specify it.

Took my 19 year old Tacoma to A+ Japanese Auto based on the reviews. The founder of A+ came to the United States from Turkey and started out as a bicycle mechanic, then spent years as a head technician at a dealership. In 1997, in his mid-40s, he opened A+ Japanese Auto Repair in San Carlos. It was a family affair from the first day.
