Keep your hybrid battery running for miles to come.

A hybrid battery rarely fails all at once. It usually loses capacity block by block, and the car compensates until it cannot anymore. A health test shows you where your battery stands before a warning light makes the decision for you.

We read the voltage of each battery block and compare them under load, check internal resistance and look at stored hybrid codes and the battery's temperature readings. We also inspect the battery cooling fan and filter, since overheating is one of the most common causes of early failure.

Frequently asked questions

  • How long do hybrid batteries last?

Many Toyota and Lexus hybrid batteries last 10 years or 150,000 miles or more. Heat, a clogged cooling filter and long periods of sitting can shorten that.

  • What are the signs of a failing hybrid battery?

Watch for lower gas mileage, the engine running more often, the battery gauge jumping between full and empty, weak acceleration or a hybrid warning light.

  • Should I get a hybrid battery test before buying a used hybrid?

Yes. The hybrid battery is the most expensive part of the car. A test tells you its real condition so you can price the car fairly or walk away.

A+ has been my auto repair shop for the last 5 years. They have an outstanding crew that are always very professional and thorough in assessing the car, identifying issues, and fixing them right the first time. If you have japanese car this is the #1 shop.

This is my first time going to A+ Japanese Auto Repair and I plan to return for other car repair/maintenance services. I appreciate the total transparency and honesty. The complementary ride to and from the shop is extremely helpful. As a bonus they have loyal rewards program and all work is backed by a warranty which they explain what it is. The staff is friendly and answer questions that you have.

Took my 19 year old Tacoma to A+ Japanese Auto based on the reviews. I knew it needed a 150K service, and they suggested an inspection along with an oil change so they could determine what services were needed. The front office staff was exceptional from the time I made my appointment, arrived to the shop, and discussed the recommended repairs. The technicians took detailed photos shown me by my service provider. She explained all of the details regarding the repairs necessay and helped categorize the repairs based on safety. I was very impressed with this level of service, and highly recommend this business.
